SALT LAKE CITY, Oct 07, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Lingotek, the leader in collaborative translation technology, today announced it has named Robert M. Vandenberg as president of the company. Lingotek has also moved the company headquarters from Provo, Utah to a larger space in Draper, Utah in preparation for growth and continued expansion.
"As we move into our next stage of rapid growth, we recognize that in today's global economy, language is one of the most fundamental barriers in communication and commerce," Vandenberg said. "We are bringing to the market a software platform to aggregate language assets and break that barrier down. This will enable organizations to translate more quickly and accurately than they ever have in the past. Government agencies will be more efficient in their international activities and companies will be empowered to sell more products in more markets at a lower cost of entry."
Lingotek also recently received a series B round of funding from In-Q-Tel, the independent strategic investment firm of the Central Intelligence Agency, Flywheel Ventures, and Canopy Ventures.
"Rob has a well-earned reputation of elevating companies by assertively taking innovative products and commercializing them in the market," said Ron Heinz, managing director of Canopy Ventures. "Lingotek is an outstanding company with excellent technology. With Rob now at the helm, the company is armed with commercialized translation solutions to become a powerful player not only in the defense and intelligence industries, but also in the global general-business market."
The new corporate headquarters is located in a new office building on the southeast bench of the Salt Lake Valley at 15 West Scenic Point Drive, Suite #325 in Draper, Utah. It was chosen for its centralized location and its expansive views of the both the valley and mountains. As the company grows, Lingotek has the option to either add space or expand into larger space at a later time. It includes a break room with exercise equipment, foosball table and other break-time amenities. The main office area is open without cubicle walls, which creates an atmosphere of communication and collaboration.
"Our new location provides a solid foundation for expansion and growth for Lingotek operations," Vandenberg said. "We are pleased to be giving our talented staff the resources they need to deliver world-class, industry changing technology and services."
Prior to being named as president of Lingotek, Vandenberg served as the company's vice president of sales and marketing. He also co-founded and served as the CEO of LocalVoice.com, which was acquired by HarrisConnect in 2005. Afterwards, he was named as the vice president of sales and marketing for HarrisConnect. Prior to that venture, he started as one of the first 20 U.S. employees at INTERSHOP Communications where he helped build its worldwide business as a top performing sales executive with national account responsibilities--the INTERSHOP initial public offering was one of the most successful enterprise software company IPOs in US history - ($10B market cap).
